Follow-up consultation – 60 minutes
The follow up consultations focus on how you are progressing. I will monitor any changes to your condition by comparing it through time. This will be done through the consultation, laboratory results and physical examination. Through monitoring your signs and symptoms, I’ll get a good idea of whether there are any underlying causes or pathology. We’ll also have the opportunity to discuss and treat any new conditions.
The follow up consultations are shorter than the initial one, because we’ll already have your case history and family history to work with. The aim is to build upon this information. Usually, having tackled your presenting problem in the initial consultation, the follow up appointments are targeted at exploring deeper, chronic and reoccurring problems. Keeping true to Naturopathic philosophy, ‘treat the cause’ and ‘treat the whole person’, the aim is to find the root of the problem. For example, if hay fever were your initial complaint, the initial consultation would focus on finding immediate relief and the following consultations would be focused on finding out the cause of the hay fever such as food intolerance, a pathogen or environmental factors.
Depending on your circumstances, I’ll recommend a follow up consultation 2-3 weeks after the initial consultation. There is no obligation to book a follow up consultation, and in some situations there may be no need. However, for most people the best results are achieved through coming back for re-assessment and guidance. As always, the long-term aim is to empower you to take control of your own health and wellbeing.
